Hannah Gruendemann is a born storyteller who composes, writes, directs, and performs in musical theater based in and around New York City. Her experience as a choral, opera, and musical theater singer equally informs how she writes a song and how she leads a rehearsal room, with an emphasis on supporting performers through the challenges of bringing work to life for an audience. Her passion lies in creating works with a strong point of view that are both unique and accessible.

Recent projects include: directing Off Brand Opera’s production of Jane Eyre: The Musical at Theatre at St. Jean’s, performing as Dame Hannah in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore (Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan), composing a song cycle premiered at the Northwestern Beinen School of Music, and assistant directing the world premiere of Era and the Carbonauts, a musical teaching children about climate change and carbon policy emissions.

Upcoming projects include: composing and writing lyrics for a new musical based on reality television dating shows, and editing a new English-translation libretto for Don Giovanni, as well as assistant directing, to be premiered in January 2025.
